Association of Centres for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies and Developmental Research (ACIMSI) is a higher education unit of University of Novi Sad within which master, specialist and doctoral studies have been organized, as well as research activities in the field of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary sciences.
The very first multidisciplinary study programme, which was at that time conducted on a postgraduate level according to the previous law on Higher Education (so-called "magistratura"), was organized by the University within the TEMPUS centre in the field of environmental engineering, due to the project YUEEE-TEMPUS-ESENS. By this project, the European Community supported the development of education in that field. Apart from University of Novi Sad, in the project also participated universities in the Netherlands, England, USA and Canada. The first students of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies enrolled these studies in the academic 1992/93.
Through the development and organization of new programmes of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies, the TEMPUS centre grew into the Centre for University Studies, and then into the Centre for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies and Developmental Research (CIMSI). In 2002, a new organization of teaching and scientific activities was established by the University Statute in terms of establishing a separate university centre for every study programme. All centres compose the Association of Centres for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies and Research - ACIMSI as a separate teaching and scientific organizational unit. Nowadays ACIMSI comprises 10 university centres. |
