Centre for Multidisciplinary Forensic Studies “Dr Arčibald Rajs” was founded at the University of Novi Sad with the aim of offering two-year master studies in forensics (120 ECTS). It is planned that the first students be enrolled in the academic year 2016/2017. Students who have gained at least 240 ECTS in the undergraduate studies are eligible for enrolment.
Modern forensics has been rapidly developing recently and the education of an up-to-date expert in this field requires a multidisciplinary approach, so as to include the focus related to this discipline, as well as other relevant disciplines. The activities of the Centre are strictly educational. The study programme is designed to include all the latest scientific and expert knowledge facts in the field of forensic sciences.
The main aim of the Centre is to educate and train experts – court experts in different scientific fields that are most relevant in the legal practice, who will be able to perform professionally different activities in the field of criminology and court expertise as required by those in charge of the legal procedure, some companies (for example insurance companies) and citizens.
The study programme is carried out according to the following scheme. A wide range of elective courses allow the students to choose courses as they want, according to their own criteria.
In the learning outcomes, within the study programme for each of the forensic sciences, it has been determined that the student should acquire certain expert competencies (subject specific competences) to be able to do the expert work on his/her own or in teams with other court experts in a competent and qualitative way and he/she should be able to do research in the relevant field.
A Master’s degree in forensic science will be obtained after graduating, with a note about the specific expert field
