Stevan Stankovski, PhD, full professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences
Prof. Dr. Stevan Stankovski was born on October 24, 1962 in Novi Sad, Serbia. He earned undergraduate degree in Computer Sciences and Automation from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad in 1987 and MSc degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade in 1991. He received a PhD degree in Intelligent Automation from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, in 1994.
After graduation, he was employed as an assistant in scientific work at the Institute for Industrial Systems of the Faculty of Technical Sciences. He held the title of assistant until 1995. In 1995, he was elected an assistant professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences. In 2005, he was elected a full professor at the same Faculty.
His scientific and professional work was published in more than 230 titles that were published in international journals and monographs, national journals and monographs, and international and national conferences. He is the owner of five patents and several dozens of technical solutions. He managed projects financed by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development and the Provincial Secretariat for Science and Technological Development. Besides managing national research projects, he managed many international projects, including a FP7 project, and he participated in a number of FP7, COST, IPA and H2020 projects. He received the following awards: Nikola Tesla Award for innovations, Kapetan Miša Anastasijević Award for scientific and professional work and an award from World organization for the protection of intellectual property in 2015. He was the winner of the competition for the Best Technology Innovation in Serbia in 2015. He received his additional scientific and professional training abroad on several occasions, at universities in Austria, Germany, England, Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary and Slovenia. He is a permanent member of IEEE and editor in the following journals: Facta Universitates – Mechanical Series, Facta Universitates – Automatic Control and Robotics, International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management and Journal of Mechatronics, Automation and Identification Technology. Besides the position of an editor in these journals, he is reviewer in the most distinguished journals in his professional field, such as Mechatronics, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Assembly Automations, Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, Knowledge – Based Systems, Journal of Network and Computer Applications, etc. He also holds a position of a visiting professor at several European universities. In his professional work he realized over 170 control systems on various machines and technology lines. He designed and realized several specialized machines, manipulators and information systems. Furthermore, he is an expert consultant in automations for FESTO Company from Stuttgart, Germany. Within the scope of activities of the FESTO Didactic Center in Novi Sad, he has held over 200 seminars in the field: programmable logic controllers, electro-pneumatics and SCADA.
He is one of the initiators and founders of the study programs of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering. From 2009 to 2018, he was also the head of the Mechatronics study program. He was a director of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management of the Faculty of Technical Sciences from 2009 to 2013. He was a mentor at eight doctoral dissertations and over one hundred and fifty graduate and master theses. He is a president of the University Senate Expert Council in the field of Technical and Technological Sciences at the University of Novi Sad, a member of the Council for Mechanical and Industrial Software of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, a President of the Expert Council for Technical Sciences at the Provincial Secretariat for Higher Education and Scientific Research and a President of the Organizing Committee of the International Festival of Science and Education in Novi Sad. He is a member of the International Engineering Academy – Central European Branch. He is the President of the Serbian Association for the Promotion of Machine and Mechanism Theories.
