EUGLOH WINTER SCHOOL “FROM FOOD TO HEALTH” HELD AT UNS

Published: 27 February 2026

Within the EUGLOH Alliance, the University of Novi Sad hosted the workshop “From Food to Health”, which was organized from February 2 to 6, 2026. Students from all nine EUGLOH member universities (Université Paris-Saclay, France; Lund University, Sweden; University of Szeged, Hungary; University of Porto, Portugal; Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany; University of Alcalá, Spain; UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, Norway; University of Novi Sad, Serbia; and the University of Hamburg, Germany) participated in the Winter School dedicated to exploring the relationship between food and health.

The aim of the Winter School was to examine the fascinating relationship between food and human health, with a focus on bioactive components in food and their impact on human well-being. The program included expert lectures on various topics, such as the role of antioxidants, proteins, dietary fibres, polyphenols, and other bioactive compounds in promoting health and preventing disease. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how specific components of the daily diet can contribute to improving overall health, strengthening immunity, and combating chronic diseases.

In addition to the theoretical knowledge acquired through lectures, each day of the Winter School also included practical workshops, during which participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities.

Beside the academic programme, which was organized within Work Package 3 (Research-based Learning & Practical Learning) of the EUGLOH 2.0 project, participants also enjoyed a cultural programme in a form of a guided visit to the Gallery of Matica Srpska, organized through the project’s Work Package 6 (Service to Society). Accompanying social programme, organized by the UNS fellow students – members of UNS EUGLOH Local Student Board – also complemented the overall experience of participants, through additional workshops, informal social gatherings, and leisure-time activities.
