EUGLOH Living Lab – Data and Decision-Making was successfully organized in a blended format, March 2-13, 2026, combining both online and onsite activities. Hosted by the University of Novi Sad in cooperation with the University of Alcala and the University of Porto, the course gathered 25 students from nine EUGLOH member universities, who broadened their knowledge and improved their skills through a series of lectures, workshops and case studies in the field of data analysis and data-based decision making, visualization methods, and data interpretation in contemporary society.
The programme was focused on several learning objectives, including:
- Learning to search, evaluate, and manage information from open and reliable sources, addressing aspects such as quality, privacy, and accessibility.
- Acquiring practical skills in data preparation, visualization, and statistical analysis using Excel and other tools.
- Understanding how data supports evidence-based decision-making through the study of key global frameworks such as the WHO and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Identifying misleading uses of data and developing critical awareness of ethical and methodological challenges.
- Getting an introduction to data science principles — from data description and diagnosis to prediction and prescription.
The overall positive and productive atmosphere during the course was enhanced through the Living Lab's international surrounding, exchange of experiences and high engagement of both students and lecturers, fostering further development of critical thinking, advancement of participants' digital and information literacy, as well as their creativity and innovation by applying data-driven insights to real-world problems.
Apart from the official programme, the participants also enjoyed a visit to the Gallery of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad city centre, which was organized thanks to EUGLOH Cultural Corridors initiative.
The realization of this programme confirmed once again the significance of international cooperation and interdisciplinary approach in development of skills crucial for contemporary academic and professional surrounding.
