THIRD EDITION OF UNS ERASMUS+ BIP “IOT AND 3D PRINTING” COMPLETED WITH SUCCESS

Published: 28 May 2026

The University of Novi Sad hosted the onsite part of the Erasmus+ BIP "Internet of Things and 3D printing" EUGLOH 2.0&Friends - 3rd Edition during the week 18-22 May, 2026. This blended intensive programme once again confirmed that there is still great interest in this field among students both from UNS and from abroad.

The first edition of the programme was organized in 2024, and the its success was also confirmed in the Erasmus+ Annual Report 2024 by the European Commission, where it was the only project coordinated by a HEI from the Republic of Serbia highlighted among the selected examples of good practice within the Erasmus+ projects.

The conceptual architect of the programme was Prof. Dr. Đorđe Herceg from UNS Faculty of Sciences, and the organisation and adminitrative coordination was led by Ivana Vujkov from UNS International Relations Office. The team of lecturers included two professors from the Univesity of Porto and six professors from the University of Novi Sad.

As a blended intensive programme, the course consisted of two segments: online and onsite programme. The physical part in Novi Sad was preceded by five weeks of collaborative online classes, with introductory lectures on topics such as IoT, C++ programming for Arduino, analog and digital sensors, introduction to 3D printing etc., followed by a week of intensive interactive lectures, presentations, workshops, case study discussions, and visits.

Apart from the theoretical lectures and practical work, the participants also had an opportunity to visit Schneider Electric LLC in Novi Sad, one of the global leaders in energy technology. Furthermore, in the framework of the EUGLOH Cultural Corridors programme and with the support of Erasmus+ organizational funds, students also had a chance to enjoy a visit to the monastery Velika Remeta in Fruška Gora, and a historic town of Sremski Karlovci.

The programme has been designed for the students of the University of Novi Sad, EUGLOH partner universities and other European higher education institutions. The latest edition in 2026 gathered 29 students altogether, some coming from EUGLOH member universities (Alcala, Szeged, Porto, Hamburg, and Paris-Saclay), and the rest from other partners, such as Alba Iulia and Maribor, joined also by a couple of UNS students.

Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the current significant trends in modern technology and it is inevitable that today’s students will encounter IoT in their future jobs. Therefore, it is of crucial importance for the students to be introduced to the underlying principles, technologies, and procedures of IoT, truly understand its impact and be able to use it in their work. The application of Internet-enabled devices ranges from personal, such as mobile phones, smart home appliances to the wide industrial scale, such as production line monitoring and connected cars. Their constant connectivity generates large amounts of data, which is used for analysis, resulting in reduction of costs, improved safety, and an overall increase in quality of life.
