
Prof. Dr. Biljana Pajin is a full professor in the Food Engineering program at the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad, University of Novi Sad. She graduated from the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad in 1995 with an overall average grade of 9.03. During her studies, she was awarded multiple times as one of the best students, and in the 1994/1995 academic year, she received the University Award for outstanding achievement. From 1995 to 1998, due to her exceptional success in her studies, she was a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Serbia, with involvement in a scientific research project. She began her career at the Faculty as a teaching assistant trainee from 1998 to 2000; teaching assistant from 2000 to 2005; assistant professor from 2005 to 2010; associate professor from 2010 to 2015; and has been a full professor since 2015. She served as the Dean of the Faculty of Technology in two terms, from 2018 to 2021 and from 2021 to 2024. She was a member of the Faculty's Teaching and Scientific Council from 2006 to 2012 and a member of the Faculty Council from 2004 to 2006.
At all three levels of study, she teaches courses related to confectionery and specialty fats for this industry, supervising a large number of theses at the undergraduate and master’s levels. Under her mentorship, five doctoral dissertations in the field of food engineering have been completed. She is also a co-author and author of several textbooks and practical guides.
Independently or as a co-author, she has published 10 monographic publications and over 240 scientific and professional papers in both domestic and international journals, as well as at scientific conferences. Her scientific work is evidenced by over 50 papers listed in the SCI database and her long-term membership in the editorial board of the Croatian Journal of Food Science and Technology and the proceedings of the conference on oil production and processing.
She has participated in one Horizon Europe project (Twinning for Enhancing the Scientific Excellence of Faculty of Technology Novi Sad for Innovative Solutions to Protect Environmental Resources from Contaminants of Emerging Concern, GA 101059867), three IPA cross-border cooperation projects (Cross-Border Network for Knowledge Transfer and Innovative Development in Wastewater Treatment (WATERFRIEND, HUSRB/1203/221/196), Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystem – Student Entrepreneurship Beyond Borders (BEE-STUDENT, HUSRB/1903/43/0012), and Empowering Food Science Professionals through Lifelong Learning for Bridging Borders (FEEDING THE FUTURE, HUSRB/23R/21/046)), as well as two Erasmus projects. She has also led or participated in several bilateral projects and over 25 national projects. Her overall competence index is 610.5, and her h-index is 17.
For more than 10 years, she has been engaged as a president or participant in several committees for product quality assessment at the Novi Sad Fair. She is also a member of the commission for awarding the recognition “Best from Vojvodina.”
