Macquarie University in Sydney has provided five scholarships amounting to AUD 200,000 each for doctoral students of the University of Novi Sad.
The scholarship covers a return airline ticket, tuition fees amounting to between AUD 30,000 and AUD 40,000 per semester (depending on the scientific field), as well as the costs of accommodation, meals and a health insurance for which AUD 27,000 will be paid to scholarship holders annually.
In addition, Macquarie University will enable scholarship holders to participate in international scientific conferences in the country and abroad so as to present their research results and it will cover their costs of registration fees, travel, accommodation and meals.
Scholarship holders will be engaged in interdisciplinary HDR-Higher Degree Research in the fields in which Macquarie University has one of the leading roles worldwide. The candidates are expected to have a good command of general English and especially a sound knowledge of specialized terminology.
Scholarship holders will be enrolled in a doctoral study program at both universities, spending one part of their studies at both the University of Novi Sad and Macquarie University in Sydney under joint supervision of professors from both universities and in compliance with the regulations pertaining to doctoral studies of both universities.
Scholarship holders will be awarded a diploma by both universities, issued by each university separately, in line with applicable regulations, noting that it is under joint supervision.
The award of a scholarship to each candidate will be regulated by a separate contract on joint supervision and a double doctorate.
Preference shall be given to doctoral students who conduct research in one of the priority areas of the Center for Strategic and Advanced Studies of the University of Novi Sad: 1. new materials and nanotechnologies; 2. information and telecommunication technologies; 3. biotechnology; 4. agriculture and food technologies; 5. energy efficiency and renewable energy sources; 6. environment and sustainable development and, 6. community stability and geopolitics.
The candidate has to submit: 1. a scholarship application (request), which must contain a statement that the applicant is acquainted with the regulations pertaining to doctoral studies of both universities and that they will adhere to the regulations if a scholarship is awarded; 2. a brief professional biography; 3. a certificate of enrollment in doctoral studies at the University of Novi Sad with the title of the study program and data on its duration and the institution at which the program is administered; 4. statements by suggested supervisors from both universities that they accept to undertake supervision and, 5. a study visit and research work plan of the candidate for both universities.

The preliminary selection of candidates will be performed by the Center for Strategic and Advanced Studies of the University of Novi Sad, whereas the final selection will be done by Macquarie University in Sydney.
