A TITLE OF HONORARY PROFESSOR REWARDED TO RECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NOVI SAD PROF. DR. DEJAN JAKŠIĆ

The Rector of the University of Novi Sad Prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić visited Zhejiang A & F University – ZAFU, October 17-23, 2018, on the occasion of ZAFU 60^th Anniversary celebration. The delegation of the University of Novi Sad also included Prof. Dr. Ivana Živančević Sekeruš, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Novi Sad and the Serbian Co-Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Novi Sad and Dr. Chen Hui, the Chinese Co-Director of the UNS Confucius Institute.

During the visit, Rector Jakšić met with the President of Zhejiang A & F University Ying Yibin. Two rectors discussed the possibilities to enhance a long-standing cooperation between the University of Novi Sad and ZAFU.

On the occasion of the 60^th Anniversary, Rector Yibin conferred a title of the Honorary Professor to the Rector of the University of Novi Sad Prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić. Among the laureates were also high representatives of several other distinguished partners of Zhejiang A & F University.

Apart from the official visit to ZAFU, Prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić participated at the International University Presidents’ Forum that was held October 19, 2018 at ZAFU. The main topic of this year’s conference was sustainable development of universities. During the first session of the Forum, Rector Jakšić held a presentation about social implications of university internationalization, with a focus on experiences of universities in Serbia.

Zhejiang A & F University is located in Hangzhou, about 200 kilometres from Shanghai. The University has three main campuses, covering the area of around 200 hectares. It has 22,000 students and the study programmes are realized in eight fields of science and higher education: agriculture, engineering, literature, science, law, economy and arts.

A successful cooperation between the University of Novi Sad and Zhejiang A & F University resulted among other in foundation of the Confucius Institute at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Novi Sad in May 2014. The main activities of the Confucius Institute focus on promotion of Chinese language and culture, as well as on activities that support the cooperation between Serbia and China in the field of culture and education. The Institute organizes courses of Chinese language and culture. Beside language courses (from A1 to B2 level), the Institute organizes courses of Chinese culture skills, attended for students and high school pupils in Serbia. Furthermore, the Confucius Institute at the University of Novi Sad is the official language exam centre for the HSK, HSKK, BCT and YCT language certificates.
