The University of Banja Luka celebrated 43rd anniversary in November 2018 with a variety of festive, academic and social events. On this occasion, a central University ceremony was held at the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska on November 7th, 2018. The Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Dr. Radoslav Gajanin addressed the audience on behalf of the host. The ceremony was attended by numerous University professors and students, rectors and vice-rectors of partner universities and the representatives of public and political life of Republic of Srpska.
On behalf of the University of Novi Sad, the Vice-Rector for Education Prof. Dr. Sanja Podunavac Kuzmanović attended the event.
The University of Novi Sad and the University of Banja Luka have had a long-standing successful cooperation that has also been formalized through bilateral inter-university agreement.

The University of Banja Luka was founded on November 7, 1975. Today it comprises 17 faculties with over 130 study programmes of the first, second and third cycle of studies. Currently it has around 20,000 students, coming from all parts of the Republic of Srpska and abroad. Most faculties are located in two University campuses, in the vicinity of the River Vrbas and near the city centre. The University of Banja Luka is a member of a number of international associations, such as the European University Association (EUA), International University Network for Academic and Research Cooperation under the patronage of the La Sapienza University Science Park in Rome, the General Assembly of Interuniversity Centre for Research and Cooperation with Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (CIRCEOS), the UniAdrion universities network, the EMUNI and the Agency for Francophone Universities (AUF).
