The international non-degree online programme Environmental communication was successfully launched in January 2023, involving five partner higher education institutions from the region – Institute of Communication Studies (Macedonia), University of Zagreb (Croatia), University of Novi Sad (Serbia), University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and University of Tirana (Albania). The programme focuses on communication in the field of ecology and environmental protection and it was developed under the project Mainstreaming Environmental Communication through online learning and virtual mobility – Comm-On Environment, financed through the Erasmus+ programme. The programme is set out to involve actively more than 180 participants from 10 countries in the next six months.
The first course will enable participants to communicate in a correct and clear way, interpret data and facts about environment, use contemporary rhetoric and terminology about environment, gain knowledge and skills for the valorisation of biodiversity and natural resources values, and understand the source of losses and threats to biodiversity.
Five courses in total will provide participants with both theoretical and practical knowledge about the interdisciplinary field of environmental communication through interactive online learning. They will have the opportunity to investigate different study cases and participate in weekly team tasks with the support of the professors who are experts in their fields.
Study programme will encompass different areas, such as environmental management, public participation, conflict resolution, risk communication, journalism, social marketing and advocacy. Due to its comprehensiveness, the programme will enable participants to follow their career development and future research path in different sectors, ranging from civil society, through media and creative industry, to academic circles, governmental bodies and industry.
