The event was hosted by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dejan Madić together with the Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Dr. Sabina Halupka Rešetar and the Vice-Rector for Science and Arts Prof. Dr. Nikola Jorgovanović. The meeting included talks about possible suggestions to improve the status of the best-ranked researchers at the University, the visibility of their work and their scientific contribution, the opportunities for the system support to researchers, as well as about the status of the scientific and research excellence in the country.
“The University of Novi Sad has been very proud of the success achieved by our researchers who have been ranked at the very top of the world scientific elite again – among 2% most influential scientists in the world, according to the lists published by the University of Stanford in November last year” the Rector commented. Professor Madić also added that the results not only acknowledged their own success, but the institution as well. “We are happy to maintain a constructive dialogue and discussion with our best researchers, in order to gather fresh ideas and initiatives aimed at improving the status of the excellence in science in the overall scientific production. More attention on the quality of the scientific papers is required, and not only on boosting the overall volume of the scientific production in general” Professor Madić said. He also added that one of the ideas is to create a University advisory body, which will be in charge for the excellence in science and improvement of its status.
The “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators“ is a publicly available database of top-cited scientists that provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator (c-score). Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.
